“Together, Everyone Achieves More” (Unknown)

By Mrs Claus

“Are you ready for Christmas?” #StopTalkListen …. Some useful advice from my husband. Christmas can be a tricky time for families ….

I wonder if he’s thought about what Christmas is like for me?! Being married to someone who works 364 days of the year, out all night on Christmas Eve and then sleeps most of Christmas day ….. Not exactly ideal.

I have to decorate the tree, tidy the house, wrap the presents, prepare presents for ALL of his sisters, cook the dinner, and make the cake …. I’m sure this sounds familiar to many of you out there!

And then there’s the trip ….. I give Rudolf his pre-flight Lucozade, run through safely procedures with the reindeer, pack Santa’s iPhone for GPS (he forgot it one year … disaster), pack a hot water bottle, 16 cheese and pickle sandwiches, 3 flasks of hot chocolate and spare jingle bells for the sleigh.

Why do I bother?? ……

Because he’s my family and we’re a team.

There’s something I’ve noticed about families, usually there’s one person who feels they are doing more than anyone else. I often feel this way. But over the years I’ve realised that we contribute to the family and to the home in different ways and at different times in our lives. You can’t always see it or measure it. I know he appreciates what I do, and I appreciate who he is.

So if there is someone who makes a difference in your life, tell them, and if you could do something extra for someone this Christmas, then what are you waiting for?! Get to it!

Mrs Claus finds Christmas a bit stressful! In between reindeer whispering, sandwich making and present wrapping she likes to get into her PJ’s, snuggle up with the dog and watch Elf or Home Alone with a large cup of Tea*.
